Mrs. Kunze's Soda Bread

 

Once the oven is warmed to about 400 degrees, coat the cast iron skillet with shortening. 

 

In a large bowl mix together:

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon baking soda

2 1/4 cups flour

1 cup water

 

Mix the dough and spread it evenly across the bottom off the pan. Bake the bread for 20-25 minutes, let cool, and cut into portions.
