Immerse yourself in trades and crafts of our history with Create-Connect Workshop Series programs.

 

Have you ever wanted to try blacksmithing, quilt making, spinning, carpentry, or wood stove cooking? Our workshops give you the opportunity to discover the tools and methods of the past, while creating your own project.

Blacksmithing

 

Learn the history and basic techniques of blacksmithing as you create your own project to take home with the help of our village blacksmiths. Appropriate for ages 15 - adult.

 

Our beginner workshops are ideal for those who have never attended a workshop before.  The advanced workshop is for those who have attended at least one workshop and would like to complete a more difficult project.

Advanced registration required. Workshop fee is $25 MCHS Members, $30 Non-members. Admission to Museum included in workshop fee.

 

Dates:

Beginner - Thursday, June 15, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Beginner - Saturday, July 22, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Advanced - Thursday, August 3, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Drop Spindle Spinning

 

Learn about the history of spinning, the different fibers that can be used, and how to prep wool during this interactive class.  Our talented instructors will assist you in learning on a drop spindle to help you create your own yarn. 
Appropriate for ages 10-adult.

Home Brewing

 

Learn how to homebrew and appreciate your own beer with the Manty Malters.  The workshop will cover home brewing essentials and will serve up samples. Must be 21 years or older to attend.

 

Advanced registration required. Workshop fee is $25 MCHS Members, $30 Non-members. Admission to Museum included in workshop fee.
